Vermont students who are thinking about continuing their education after high school should know about this opportunity for free financial support.

Any high school graduate who plans to attend college, vocational school, or technical college, and has a parent with a significant work injury, can apply for a scholarship from Kids' Chance of Vermont. They are currently taking applications for scholarships for the 2021-2022 school year.

Kids’ Chance is a national nonprofit supported by Biggam Fox Skinner and many others. It funds scholarships to help children of injured workers afford a post-high-school education. Since 2014, Kids' Chance of Vermont has awarded more than $95,000 in scholarships to young Vermonters. Areas of study include engineering at Vermont Technical College, physical therapy at Sage College, nursing at Colby Sawyer, education at Castleton University, and cosmetology at Paul Mitchell Hair Design.

Heidi Groff, partner at Biggam Fox Skinner and Vice President of Kids' Chance of Vermont, said, “When a parent gets injured on the job and can’t return to work right away, their family often suffers a dramatic drop in income. Paying for education becomes impossible or a real struggle. We want to make our clients and our community aware of the fantastic opportunity that Kids’ Chance offers for families to afford higher education for their kids."

How to Apply For a Scholarship
